Wanted: Dog/Cat D.V.M. who desires eventual ownership
Minimum 5 years experience D.V.M. with strong interest in practice ownership after estimated 3 to 7 years as a well-paid ($150,000 minimum to start) associate. I will finance the practice purchase at very favorable rates.
I have a 3 D.V.M. Dog/Cat practice in Coastal Florida; established 17 years.
I am in my late 60’s (very healthy) and looking to a future exit plan.
My pitch: I will pay $150, 000 minimum for the right D.V.M. who can and will take the reins to learn and perform owner duties such as: providing excellent veterinary medicine and surgery, getting involved in the community, networking, providing exceptional client service, evaluating marketing, staff management, etc. and importantly have the ability to motivate clients to repeat visits requesting you as their preferred doctor. Contributing to practice growth is vital.
At the end of an agreed upon period (one year minimum) we will negotiate how to proceed to accomplish the goals of future practice transition; having a more complete understanding of the practice workings and profitability and each parties’ style and needs.
Some of my thoughts at this time are:
After the initial trial period, both parties need to feel confident that the other party can accomplish the mission of smooth, mutually beneficial practice ownership transition.
The associate will need to become vested in the business with collateral of some type (sweat equity, etc.) so that they are motivated to succeed and not dump a stressed practice back in my lap.
I plan to be available for many years, if desired, to fill in and provide specialized services.
I see no reason that a motivated D.V.M. cannot assume ownership; make payments to me and still make a very substantial income. After a few years with proper practice nurturing the income should be impressive.
This needs to be a Win-Win for both parties.
My practice is located in a medium size affluent growing community, 2 miles from major beaches. Lifestyle and recreation are superb.
I, like so many snowbirds, was sick of the cold North Country so this move was a godsend for me. You can get out of the cold also. Florida has licensing by endorsement with three years active practice.
