Pieper Veterinary, a 24-hour emergency and specialty practice in Middletown, CT, is seeking an experienced candidate to join our team as a Hospitalist. We are offering the opportunity to become part of an established and well-respected veterinary practice. Our specialty teams include emergency & critical care, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, and oncology. Specialty departments work collaboratively as a team, conferring on cases to ensure we explore every option in the treatment of our patients. The hospital also runs a robust rotating internship and residency program. We offer all these resources while maintaining the values and culture of a family-owned practice. The Hospitalist is responsible for overseeing the case management of hospitalized patients. Their primary role is managing patients admitted from the Emergency Department for diagnostics, providing consistent treatment and monitoring as well as coordinating with specialty services. This position is ideal for a candidate excited to practice interdisciplinary care while working closely with emergency and specialty departments. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with excellent multi-tasking skills and can contribute to our high standard of patient care, client service, and collaboration with both specialists and local referring veterinarians. You will have the opportunity to grow professionally with the hospital and build and sustain strong relationships with referring colleagues, clients, and support staff. We are committed to providing our clinicians with the tools that they need to perform advanced diagnostics and treatments, ensuring that patients get the best care available. Our state-of-the-art facilities include multiple ultrasounds, wireless Fukuda Denshi telemetry, 64-slice CT, 1.5 T MRI, C-Arm with neurovascular platform, Maquet Servo-U ventilator with NAVA and volumetric capnography, minimally invasive surgical equipment, on-site Antech reference diagnostic laboratory, and a fully equipped physical therapy department. Scoping equipment includes multiple flexible and rigid scopes with 2 scope towers. We have four surgical suites equipped for general, orthopedic, neurologic, and soft tissue surgery. This position will be scheduled on an alternating four/five day week, and will include a weekend day. Responsibilities:
