Pacific Northwest Pet ER & Specialty Center is looking for a Specialty Supervisor for our specialty departments.
Calmly, competently and compassionately direct the culture, communication, vision, values, and workflow of the specialty teams to provide sensational patient care, client experience, and staff experience. Support communication between specialty services, the emergency & critical care department, and support staff. Oversees support staff in current specialty departments (Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Imaging, and Neurology)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and post schedules for specialty teams 3 months in advance in Dayforce, aligning the staffing to the appropriate patient/case load.
- Approve time sheets every 2 weeks prior to biweekly payroll and report any concerns to the Operations Manager
- Report to and confer with Medical Director regarding personnel questions and concerns. Provide ongoing real-time coaching to the team.
- Report to the Medical Director regarding clinical questions and concerns within the hospital departments or within the hospital.
- Willing and able to float into a clinical role in the floor within multiple specialty departments when required.
- Screen new potential hires by phone interview and/ or in-person interviews. Create onboarding plans and help implement training for new hires
- Participate in regular meetings with Leadership to discuss updates/concerns/plan of actions
- Perform 90-day and yearly performance reviews for the team with the Medical Director, as well as regular one-on-one check-in meetings with the team.
- Facilitate monthly team meetings for each Specialty department
- Celebrate successes including staff training progression, good communication, and positive patient outcomes/client experiences. Immediately correct any behaviors that deviate from Pac West’s values and vision.
- Assist and support other departments and teams to accomplish the collective goals of sensational patient care and client/staff experience.
- Model and shape the communication and workflow in each department
- Supervise each member of your department, correcting negative behaviors with available resources like Performance Improvements Plans and in accordance with our Progressive Discipline Policy.
- Assist in Quarterly inventory for each department and ensure an accurate count.
- Communicate protocol changes, important organizational news, staff changes, etc with each team in a positive and timely fashion.
- Facilitate interdepartmental communication and workflow with ER and CSR Supervisors, identify gaps in protocols and processes to enhance and protect the patient/client/staff experience.
- All employees will be scheduled and expected to work rotating holiday shifts.
- Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety.
- Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program preferred.
Licensed Veterinary Technician in WA state, or able to transfer an out of state technician license. - At least 4 years veterinary experience required. Specialty experience required.
- At least 2 years supervisory experience required. Veterinary preferred.
- Excellent communication skills. Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
