Pet Wellness and Urgent Care Center is eager to expand our team! We are looking for another DVM to come practice high quality, compassionate veterinary medicine.
Our unique collaboration of veterinary care locations offers a variety of services, including routine visits, emergency, surgery, laser therapy, stem cell therapy, grooming, boarding, urgent care needs, an online pharmacy, in house laboratory, and water therapy. This environment provides an excellent opportunity to cultivate and enhance urgent care and ER skillsets, making it a great place for professional growth.
We welcome DVMs of all experience levels! If you are a new or recent graduate, we are willing to provide any desired mentorship.
Our five current DVMs are supported by a tremendous support staff consisting of multiple credentialed technicians, experienced customer service team, a rehabilitation technician, an ultrasound technician, and an attentive practice management team. They are skilled and professional, always making sure our doctors are never without a hand. We emphasize work-life balance, and flexible scheduling.
About the area: Marion, Illinois is in the central southern part of Illinois. With easy access to major highways that will take you to St. Louis, Carbondale, and Paducah. The Shawnee National Forest is less than a half hour away and is a hidden gem within the state of Illinois, offering trails for hiking and biking, as well fishing, camping, horseback riding, and is home to Garden of the Gods hiking trail. Marion has good public schools and is located approximately 20 miles from Southern Illinois University. Marion offers a smalltown charm feel with urban amenities that are just a short drive away.
Essential Responsibilities
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
