Equine Emergency/Critical Care Residency (ACVECC)
ACVECC residency (3 year program) opening for January 2026 or July 2026. The group of practices sees approximately 5,000 emergencies per year with the majority being evaluated and treated through the main hospital near Sacramento, CA. The emergency service is run day and night by 4 ACVECC diplomates and therefore the mentorship in the program is exceptional. There is a wide variety of cases including surgical emergencies, infectious diseases, toxicities, neonates, and technical rescues. The program typically has 3-4 residents in the program at one time. The residency has been in place for approximately 15 years and has a structured program including physiology reviews, journal clubs, and external rotations with specialists.
